Prop firm basics
What is a prop firm challenge?
You pay a one-time or monthly fee to trade an evaluation account. Hit the profit target without breaking the loss rules and the firm gives you a funded account and pays you a share of the profits. Most traders do not pass, so treat the fee as a cost of learning.
Are funded accounts real money?
At many firms, especially in futures, "funded" accounts are simulated and payouts are paid from the firm's revenue. A few firms move consistent traders to live accounts. Each review on this site notes what the firm says.
Which drawdown type is easiest?
Static drawdown is the most forgiving, then end-of-day trailing, then intraday trailing (which can follow unrealised profits). Our reviews state the drawdown type for every firm.
How do you choose which firms to list?
We list established and fast-growing firms traders actually search for. Being listed does not mean a firm paid us, and paying us does not change a firm's score.
